Overview
The construction industry is currently
facin g a major revolution with the introduction of
Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs). ICF is an innovative
exterior wall building material that is rapidly replacing
traditional "stick-frame" residential and
commercial construction worldwide.
An ICF is simply a hollow, lightweight,
"stay in place" form manufactured using Expanded
Polystyrene (EPS) and polypropylene webs. During construction,
the forms are first stacked together into the desired
shape then filled with concrete in order to ma ke stable,
durable and sustainable walls. One of the key benefits
of using ICFs is that they offer a "5 in 1"
solution that provides structure, insulation, vapour
barrier, sound barrier and attachments for drywall and
exterior siding in one easy step.
Unique
Design
Amvic ICFs are designed with 2.5
inches of 1.5lb/cf density expanded polystyrene (EPS)
foam on both sides of a form containing 8 uniquely designed
polypropylene webs. The webs are spaced 6 inches on
center compared to 8 inches on center in most competing
products. Amvic ICF webs also use more raw material
than the webs in other ICF blocks, which allow for a
198 lb pull out strength for drywall screws and superior finishing
capabilities for interior and exterior strapping. Amvic
webs also have a uniquely designed rebar holding system
that eliminates the need for tie downs and places the
rebar at the most effective places to ensure superior
structural strength. Amvic ICF is the most rigid ICF
on the market. |
Amvic
ICF blocks use the FormLock TM interlocking system developed
by Amvic, which has considerably deeper grooves than
competing products and allows the blocks to be fully
reversible. This allows Amvic ICF to be stacked quickly,
easily and without the need for glue or ties. Amvic's
user friendly, easy to install system increases job
site efficiency and worker productivity, which saves
you time and money.
Strongest on the
Market
Due to the powerful combination
of Amvic's innovative block design and high quality
production, the Amvic ICF is the strongest on the market
as proven by the Canadian Construction Material Center
(CCMC) forming capacity strength test. Not only is Amvic
ICF currently the only ICF on the market to pass this
test, but the test requirements were substantially surpassed.
In addition, the engineered structural integrity of
the Amvic ICF requires less bracing and produces a straighter
wall that virtually eliminates wall flexing.
In early 2005, Amvic launched
the new patent pending reinforcement technology which
is unique to Amvic. This reinforcement system provides
additional support to the walls during the pouring of
concrete and increases the structural integrity of the
completed wall.
Highest Quality
In order for Amvic to continue
to be the BEST ICF block in the industry, quality control
is a top priority. Unlike Amvic's competitors who use
outside molders that produce various plastic and foam
products like coffee cups for their polystyrene, Amvic
manufactures it in house and only uses highly trained,
knowledgeable outside ICF manufacturers for external
production. This is done because it is the only way
to guarantee that the Amvic standard will be upheld
consistently. Due to Amvic's state of the art machinery,
skilled employees and rigorous testing, the highest
quality products are always produced. |
